Understandable,
yes, but if you take that approach
when customizing your Harley
Davidson, you’ll end up with
boxes full of parts you’ll probably
never use. It’s better to slow down
a bit and think about the person you
are, and what you want from your
Harley.
Are you driven by speed? If so, then
making your Harley even faster than it
already is might be the direction to
head. Will your Harley take you on
long trips far away from home? Then
outfitting your bike with luggage
racks and ample storage compartments
might be what’s important to you. Do
you want to be able to talk to your
honey while you both ride because if
so, adding an intercom system might be
something you’ll need (or not, if
you’re looking at the riding time as
a time to tune all others out)? Do you
plan to enter motorcycle shows where
you’ll be competing for prizes? If
so, your Harley will need to look the
part.
If you don’t really have a goal in
mind, or a particular need, but you
just want to do something with your
Harley because that’s what Harley
owners do, grab any of the countless
books written on the subject of customizing
your Harley Davidson and start
reading. Inside these books you’ll
find ideas for customization projects
complete with step-by-step
instructions, full-color photos and
sometimes even information on where to
go to get the aftermarket parts you
need to complete the project. If
reading isn’t your strong point,
instructional videos and DVDs are also
available.
And for the ultimate customization
experience, for those with the
know-how and who don’t mind getting
their fingers greasy, take a look at
the kits that are available that give
you all the parts necessary to build a
motorcycle completely from scratch.
That’s about as custom as it gets.
The nice thing about customizing your
Harley Davidson is the simple fact
that there are no rules, no right way
or wrong way to customize. It’s an
individual process; a way to stand
apart from the crowd. And it needs no
further explanation.. |
